Amazon’s Liability for Teen Death to Be Weighed in Ohio (1)

Ohio’s top court reversed course and agreed to review a decision exonerating Amazon.com Inc. in the death of a teen who used a caffeine product.

The Ohio Supreme Court said it will hear the appeal, filed by Logan Stiner’s father as administrator of his estate.

The about-face follows three recent decisions by federal appeals courts, two of which involved hoverboards, green-lighting claims against Amazon for products sold by third parties on its site.

Dennis Stiner noted two of those decisions in filings asking the Ohio court to reconsider a June 26 refusal to take the appeal.
