Amazon Trimmed From Lawsuit Over Recalled EzriCare Eye Product

Amazon.com Inc. persuaded a federal judge to dismiss the e-commerce giant from a lawsuit brought by a woman alleging that defective eye drops purchased through its site impaired her vision.

Plaintiff Deborah Hartwell hadn’t shown that Amazon had sufficient ties to New Jersey for the court to have personal jurisdiction over the company, Judge Georgette Castner of the US District Court for the District of New Jersey ruled, while allowing some of Hartwell’s claims against the teardrop maker EzriCare LLC to proceed.
