Amazon, Poppy Seed Sellers Settle Morphine Overdose Death Suit

Amazon.com Inc. and companies in a poppy seed supply chain settled a lawsuit over an Arkansas man’s morphine overdose death from a tea he allegedly intended to use for insomnia.

The terms of the settlement weren’t disclosed in the parties’ filing Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas.

Stephen Patrick Hacala Jr. was found dead in his apartment in April 2016, according to the court. An autopsy found he died from accidental morphine intoxication, but no morphine was present in the apartment.
