Allergan Breast Implant Cancer Suits Head for New Jersey

Federal lawsuits linking Allergan Inc.‘s textured Biocell breast implants with a rare cancer will be combined and sent to New Jersey, where the company is headquartered, a special panel ruled Dec. 18.

Allergan recalled the implants in July after the Food and Drug Administration said the products had been associated with breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system.

The lawsuits followed soon after. Women allege Allergan failed to disclose a link between the implants and the immune system cancer, and offered an insufficient program to cover medical costs.
