Abbott, AbbVie Continue to Face Lupron Bone, Joint Damage Suit

Abbott Laboratories and AbbVie Inc. will continue to face some claims alleging their Lupron synthetic hormone caused a woman’s bone and joint damage.

Terry Paulsen alleges an Abbott representative told her physician Lupron wouldn’t cause any long-term problems, according to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The doctor prescribed a Lupron injection to treat Paulsen’s endometriosis.

The injection permanently damaged her bones and joints, and she received diagnoses of severe joint arthropathy and osteoporosis, she says. She allegedly has chronic pain and fatigue.
