A $12 million class settlement in a consumer suit alleging Starkist systematically underfilled tuna cans is slated for a December final fairness hearing in the Northern District of California (Hendricks v. Starkist Co., N.D. Cal., 13-00729, hearing set 12/17/15).
Starkist agreed to pay $8 million in cash and $4 million in vouchers for Starkist products. The settlement amount includes payment to claimants, attorneys’ fees and costs, claims administrator costs and plaintiff incentive awards, according to an order preliminarily approving the deal.
