U.S. Bankruptcy Tracker: Filings Soar to Match 2009 Record

Thirteen U.S. companies sought bankruptcy protection last week, matching the peak of the global financial crisis, data compiled by Bloomberg show. The filings, led by consumer and energy, were the most for any week since May 2009.

AAC Holdings Inc.’s Chapter 11 makes this a record year for health-care sector bankruptcies, with 13 cases, up from seven in the corresponding period of 2019. Filings from all sectors now total 117, the most for the first half of a year since 2009, data compiled by Bloomberg show.
