South Africa Rugby Rights Sale to Ackerley May Fail, News24 Says

SA Rugby, which oversees the world champion South African team, is unlikely to succeed with plans to sell a 20% stake in a newly created commercial-rights company as it doesn’t have the support of top members, News24 reported.

Seven of the 14 representatives, which include the country’s biggest franchises, oppose the planned sale to Seattle-based Ackerley Sports Group LLC and are seeking an alternative proposal in three months, the Cape-Town based website reported on Tuesday, citing unnamed people.
