Sixth Street Nears Deal for 80% of Sunderland Women’s Team (1)

Sixth Street Partners, one of the most active private equity investors in football, is nearing an acquisition of a majority stake in Sunderland AFC’s women’s team, people familiar with the matter said.

The US investment firm is negotiating a deal that will see it buy 80% of Sunderland AFC Women through its Bay Collective multiclub platform, according to the people, who asked not to be identified discussing confidential information.
