Roger Ferguson Joins Tech Incubator as CIO After Apollo Reversal

Roger Ferguson, the former CEO of pension giant TIAA who backed out of taking a marquee job last year at Apollo Global Management Inc., joined tech incubator Red Cell Partners as chief investment officer.

Ferguson, 70, was also named chairman of Red Cell’s investment committee and appointed to its board, the Washington-based firm said Wednesday in a statement.

Red Cell’s portfolio includes startups that harness artificial intelligence “in the quest to cure cancer and diabetes” and those that use blockchain technology to strengthen communications platforms, Ferguson said in the statement.
