Lululemon-Backed Recycler Uses AI to Tackle Waste in Australia

A Lululemon Athletica Inc.-backed recycling startup is expanding as demand builds in the fashion to packaging sectors for fibers created by reusing hard-to-manage materials like nylon and polyester.

Samsara Eco Pty. has opened its first commercial-sized facility, a A$30 million ($20 million) plant in Jerrabomberra, outside Canberra, which is intended to contribute to its goal of processing 1.5 million tons of plastics annually by 2030. Materials will be used by customers including Lululemon, and for trials with brands across textiles, packaging and the automotive industry.
