Joe Tsai’s Family Office Loses Ex-Goldman Partner Vanica as CIO

Jonathan Vanica has left the family office that manages part of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. co-founder Joe Tsai’s fortune.

Vanica, who was chief investment officer for Blue Pool Capital, departed around the end of 2021, according to registry filings. He joined the Hong Kong-based investment firm in late 2020 after working for almost two decades at Goldman Sachs Group Inc., heading its Asia credit division as well as real estate investments in India, Southeast Asia and Korea.

Representatives for Blue Pool and Vanica didn’t respond to requests for comment.
