Italy Takes Extra Time to Review Sale of Lukoil Refinery: FT

Italian officials are taking extra time to review the sale of Lukoil PJSC’s oil refinery in the country, one of Europe’s biggest plants, the Financial Times reported on Saturday.

The deal faces new scrutiny after the US government privately asked Rome to confirm there is no Russian involvement in the buyer, GOI Energy, the newspaper reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

Cyprus-based GOI Energy agreed in January to take control of the ISAB refinery in Priolo, Sicily, from Trafigura. The deal was expected to close by the end of March.
