French Senate to Examine €1.5 Billion Football Deal With CVC

France’s Senate is set to open an inquiry into the €1.5 billion ($1.6 billion) sale of part of the French professional football league’s marketing unit to CVC Capital Partners.

The body’s sports committee will interview the participants in the transaction and issue a report within six months, Senator Laurent Lafon, the head of committee, said in a phone interview with Bloomberg on Wednesday.

Separately, the French financial prosecutor’s office said it is looking into a complaint filed in November by an association alleging misappropriation of funds. No decision has been made whether to pursue an investigation.
