Ex-Merrill Banker Bulks Up $300 Million Green Bet With New Hires

An investment firm focusing on the green-energy sector and backed by members of the world’s super-rich has hired four senior executives as it builds out operations.

HYCAP, led by former Merrill Lynch banker James Munce, added Advent International veteran Scott Lanphere as chief investment officer and onetime Goldman Sachs Group Inc. executive Damian Ordish as head of people, according to a statement Monday.

The Oxford, England-based firm also hired former Merrill Lynch banker Luke Spencer-Wilson as chief operating officer, while Ben Madden joined as chief technology officer after working at consulting firm Element Energy.
