EU Nears Decision on Trading Rules Delay, Finance Chief Says

The European Union will shortly announce its plans for implementing the part of the Basel III regulations that governs banks’ trading activities, according to its finance chief, amid growing pressure for Europe to follow delays elsewhere.

“We’ll do it soon,” Maria Luis Albuquerque said in her first interview as the EU’s commissioner for financial services. “It has already been postponed to 2026, we will have to look into it and see whether we postpone further.”
