Climate-Tech Startups Attract $53.7 Billion of Investment: Chart

Climate technology as an investment thesis gained mainstream traction in 2021, according to BloombergNEF. Startups active in six climate-related sectors raised a total of $53.7 billion last year, including a banner December which saw $7.6 billion of investment alone, with those in energy, transport and agriculture attracting the most capital. BlackRock Inc., Mubadala Capital, Sequoia Capital and Macquarie Capital stepped into decarbonization and sustainability in a big way, backing climate-focused funds such as BeyondNetZero, the Global Transition Fund and The Climate Rise Fund.
