Citi Hires Goldman Veteran Friedland for Investment Banking (1)

Citigroup Inc. hired a Goldman Sachs Group Inc. partner, David Friedland, to co-lead its investment-banking coverage in North America, the latest in a flurry of personnel moves by new banking head Vis Raghavan.

Friedland is a 27-year Goldman veteran who has run its cross-markets group focused on expanding the firm’s footprint in the middle market, according to a memo Thursday seen by Bloomberg News.

He will become Citigroup’s co-head of North America investment banking alongside Jens Welter, who recently moved to New York from Europe to push the unit’s growth in the US market.
