Tony James’ family office has launched a fund focused on the health-care sector as the Blackstone Inc. billionaire adopts more sophisticated ways of managing one of the world’s biggest fortunes.
Jefferson River Capital’s fund is targeting investments supporting medical innovations from early development through to commercialization, according to a statement Wednesday, which didn’t disclose financial details. Laura Lande-Diner, a veteran biotech entrepreneur, has joined Jefferson Life Sciences as managing partner. The New York-based fund has also assembled a team of more than half a dozen advisers, according to its website.
