Bessent Says Private Equity Firms Won’t Be Forced to Sell Homes

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said President Donald Trump’s proposal to keep large firms from buying up single-family homes in the US would be forward-looking and not result in a forced sale of current holdings.

“The idea here is bygones are bygones,” Bessent said in answering questions after remarks to the Economic Club of Minnesota. “We’re not going to have a forced sale here.”
