Barclays Sponsors Head JF Astier Is Said to Depart UK Bank

Jean-Francois Astier, global head of Barclays Plc’s financial sponsors group, is departing the UK bank, according to people familiar with the matter.

Astier is leaving after a near-30 year career at Barclays and Lehman Brothers. He will be replaced by Christian Oberle, who’s being promoted from his role as head of financial sponsors in Americas, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing confidential information.

Astier was previously a co-head of investment banking at Barclays.

A spokesperson for Barclays declined to comment.
