Ares Acquisition Lead in Asia Eric Vimont Leaves Firm (Correct)

Ares Management Corp.’s partner and head of strategy Eric Vimont is leaving the firm, after expanding Asia footprint via several key acquisitions, according to people familiar with the matter.

Based in Hong Kong, Vimont is currently serving his gardening leave, the people said, who asked not to be identified discussing private matters.

A veteran at Ares, Vimont led several major acquisitions, including the purchase of a controlling stake in distressed debt player SSG Capital Holdings Ltd. in 2020 and the recent takeover of key funds from Indonesian private equity firm Northstar Group earlier this year, the people said.
