Zoosk Parent Unable to Shake Dating Site Data Breach Class Suit

Zoosk Inc.’s parent company Spark Networks SE failed to convince a federal judge in California on Thursday that it should be immediately immune from a proposed class action over a hack of its dating site because the court doesn’t have jurisdiction over the German corporate partner.

Plaintiffs sued Zoosk and Spark in July, saying their data was accessed by a group known as ShinyHunters, which claims to have stolen millions of user records from at least 13 companies. ShinyHunters allegedly hacked Zoosk in January 2020 and put information for sale on the dark web.
