Zillow Loses Early Bid to Quash Video Privacy Class Action

A class action accusing Zillow Group Inc. of violating federal video privacy law can proceed because the plaintiff showed video content was a “key element” of company’s business practices, a California federal judge ruled.

Zillow had sought to dismiss the complaint on the grounds that its zillow.com online real estate marketplace is not a “video tape service provider” and the plaintiff is not a “consumer” as defined/stipulated under the Video Privacy Protection Act.
