Yahoo Settles Global Data Breach That Hit 1 Billion Accounts (1)

Yahoo Inc. will pay $50 million to end U.S. and Israeli consumer class claims stemming from one of the world’s largest data breaches that impacted a billion accounts.

The company will also provide two years of credit monitoring and identity theft protection to impacted Yahoo users, under the settlement docketed Oct. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The court will have to approve the settlement for it to take effect.
