White House Will Develop Smart Home-Device Cybersecurity Labels

The Biden administration will bring together companies and trade associations this month to develop a new label for Internet of Things smart home devices in order to help consumers determine if products use cybersecurity standards designed to prevent hacking, the White House said Tuesday in a fact sheet.

• The White House will also host international partners for a conference to address ransomware Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
• The administration is also issuing new cybersecurity performance goals for critical infrastructure that it says “will provide a baseline to drive investment toward the most important security outcomes.”
