The White House is pushing Republicans in Congress to follow through and cut an additional $20 billion in IRS enforcement money from the Democrats’ 2022 tax-and-climate law.
A request from the Trump administration sent to congressional spending panels called for repeating a $20.2 billion reduction in supplemental IRS enforcement funding that was included in the fiscal 2024 spending law, according to a document obtained by Bloomberg Government. Another cut would leave the IRS with just a fraction of the $45.6 billion in enforcement funding originally provided in the tax-and-climate law.
