Web.com Hit by Credit Card Breach Affecting 93,000

Website building company Web.com Group Inc. Aug. 18 announced that it discovered an unauthorized breach of one of its computer systems that may have compromised the credit card information of approximately 93,000 customers.

The company has more than 3.3 million customers.

The breach occurred Aug. 13, and Web.com immediately reported the breach to federal and state authorities and credit card processors, the company said in a statement. However, the card validation codes weren’t compromised, it added.

It said it will provide a year of credit monitoring protection to impacted customers.
