A class of more than 22 million Wawa Inc. customers won final approval Wednesday for their $12 million settlement over a data breach that led to the sale of their payment information on the dark web.
Hackers accessed point-of-sale systems, installed malware in gas station fuel dispensers and in-store payment terminals, obtained customer payment card information, and sold the information online.
The resulting claims were later split into consumer, employee, and financial institution tracks.
