Waste Management Company Agrees to $200,000 Privacy Settlement

A waste management company has struck a $200,000 deal to resolve a proposed class action pending in Illinois federal court that accuses the company of violating the Biometric Information Privacy Act.

The deal with GFL Environmental Services USA Inc. will net class members approximately $1,500 each minus fees, according to the proposed settlement filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Attorneys representing GFL didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
