Verkada Says Hackers Accessed Cameras of 95 Customers

Surveillance startup Verkada Inc. said hackers accessed the cameras of 95 of its customers in a security breach exposed earlier this month.

A company review found the clients “had video security and image data accessed by the attackers,” Chief Executive Officer Filip Kaliszan said in a blog post Wednesday. “In total, this represents less than 2% of our approximately 6,000 customer population.”

Hackers had access to a total of 150,000 cameras, which included the live feeds of all of Verkada’s customers -- schools, hospitals, jails and companies like Tesla Inc. and Cloudflare Inc. The disclosure reveals for the first time ...
