A national network of urology specialists exposed the protected health information of about 10,000 patients in a data breach, according to a proposed class action.
United Urology Group, which has affiliate practices in Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Maryland, and Tennessee, failed to follow basic cybersecurity protections, including encrypting patients’ sensitive data or deleting it once it was no longer needed, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Maryland.
