LONDON—The U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) took four enforcement actions in July, including its third-highest fine.
The actions included two monetary penalties, one enforcement notice—which requires an organization to take a specific action to comply with the Data Protection Act (1998)—and one undertaking—where an organization consents to improve its data security measures in a signed agreement.

As announced in its annual report, the ICO July 2 issued consumer lender Welcome Financial Services Ltd. with its third-highest ever fine of £150,000 ($235,050) for losing more than half a million customers’ details (11 PVLR 1114, 7/9/12
