The U.S. State Department has launched a new bureau focused on cyberspace as part of a government-wide effort to combat hacks from nations like Russia.

The Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy is expected to elevate cyber diplomacy’s role in international affairs. Its launch comes at a time when President Joe Biden has warned of the risk of Russian cyberattacks against the U.S. as possible retaliation for sanctions imposed over the invasion of Ukraine.
