Toyota Industries Agrees To $50,000 Settlement After Data Breach

Toyota Industries North America Inc. will pay $50,000 to resolve claims that it failed to prepare for a data breach that compromised the personal information and protected health information of 6,630 Indiana residents, according to a recently filed consent decree.

The company is a health plan sponsor for its employees and their dependents, but allegedly failed to carry out risk assessments for the databases housing their sensitive information or establish a risk management plan, in violation of state and federal laws, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita (R) said in the state’s complaint filed March 5 at the U.S. District Court ...
