Tinder, OKCupid Biometric Privacy Case Advances, Moves to Texas

Match Group Inc., the owner of dating sites Tinder and OKCupid, can’t dismiss claims that it illegally collected face scans of users and shift them to small claims court, but it can litigate them in the Northern District of Texas, a judge ruled in Illinois federal court Wednesday.

Match’s proposal to move Tinder and OKCupid customer Marcus Baker’s lawsuit to small claims court wouldn’t afford him the same remedies, Judge Manish S. Shah wrote in an order for the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
