TikTok is objecting to a push to force emergency settlement talks in lawsuits accusing it of collecting data on children’s faces without parental approval.
“There is no emergency” that would justify disrupting settlement discussions, lawyers for the video-sharing app’s Chinese owner ByteDance Ltd. said in a Friday filing in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
The filing shows how TikTok aims to avoid rushing talks ahead of the possible sale of its U.S. operations.
