TikTok Banned on Utah State Devices Due to Security Concerns (1)

Utah banned the use of TikTok Inc. on state-owned devices Monday, adding to states addressing concerns about the social media platform’s alleged data sharing with China.

The executive order by Gov. Spencer Cox (R) takes effect immediately and applies to state executive branch agencies. The move comes as TikTok faces lawsuits over its age appropriateness and US user data protections, and follows similar actions by governors in states such as South Dakota.

China-based ByteDance Ltd. owns TikTok, raising concerns that the Chinese government can access data collected by the app. That access threatens cybersecurity, Cox said in a statement. ...
