TikTok must pay $92 million to resolve multidistrict litigation over the company’s alleged misuse of its users’ private data, after a federal judge in Illinois granted final approval of a settlement Thursday.

Judge John Z. Lee of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois certified a nationwide settlement class comprising 1.4 million people for alleged violations of the state’s Biometric Information Privacy Act.
