Allstate Sued Over Unauthorized Collection of Driving Data (1)

Texas is suing Allstate Corp. and its affiliates for allegedly collecting more than 45 million consumers’ driving data without their consent, according to a new lawsuit Monday.

The Texas Attorney General claims Allstate has illegally collected trillions of miles of consumer driving data through third-party applications on cell phones, in-car devices, and vehicles, according to the complaint. The Attorney General, Ken Paxton, says Allstate violated Texas law concerning data privacy, data brokering, and deceptive acts in the insurance business and should pay up to $27,500 per violation.
