Test Proctoring Privacy Suit Stayed Pending Other Motion Rulings

Discovery in a proposed privacy class action against ProctorU Inc. is stayed until separate dismissal and venue transfer motions in the case are decided, an Illinois federal magistrate judge ruled.

There’s no evidence that a stay will “unduly prejudice or tactically disadvantage” the plaintiffs, Magistrate Judge Eric I. Long wrote in an order filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois.

Attorneys representing the plaintiffs didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

ProctorU, a Birmingham, Ala.-based online exam company, was sued in March over alleged privacy violations.
