Commercial roofing contractor Tecta America Corp. failed to properly secure and safeguard personally identifiable information of at least 39,965 current and former employees, a proposed class action said.
The breach exposed information including Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and financial account information, according to the complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Between September 20 and October 2, 2024, hackers targeted Tecta America’s systems, accessing the data, according to the complaint. Tecta America became aware of the unauthorized access on Oct. 1.
