Tech Group Asks Judge to Block Utah Kids’ Online Safety Laws (1)

Tech industry group NetChoice sued the state of Utah to block a pair of laws that curb kids’ and teens’ social media use from going into effect.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for Utah, asks a judge to halt the two laws from going in effect until the case is decided. The laws are scheduled to go into effect in March.

The laws would require social media companies to verify whether users in Utah are over 18 and requires parental consent before allowing minors to use their services. The laws also restrict companies from collecting children’s ...
