TaxAct Seeks to Move Taxpayer Data-Sharing Suit to Federal Court

TaxAct Inc. has asked for federal court to pick up the proposed class action it faces alleging it shared wiretapped taxpayer data with big tech companies.

The electronic tax preparation company filed a notice of removal Thursday to the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, arguing for the case to be heard by the federal court instead of the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia County because the plaintiff asserts some claims under federal law.
