Switzerland’s top prosecutor has called on legislators to give him sweeping US-style powers and more investigators to dole out faster justice to errant companies — although he conceded the idea could take years to become law.

The recent convictions on bribery charges of former executives from top commodity-trading firms Trafigura and Gunvor, while notable, took too long to prosecute, Swiss Attorney General Stefan Blaettler told press reporters at a conference on Thursday.
