Sweeping AT&T Data Breach of Customer Records Prompts Suit (1)

AT&T Inc. was sued in Texas for exposing the phone records of nearly all of its cellular customers.

By failing to protect consumers’ data, AT&T committed negligence and was unjustly enriched, according to the proposed class action filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas on July 12.

AT&T disclosed Friday in an SEC filing that hackers stole six months’ worth of mobile-phone customer data from May 1, 2022, to Oct. 31, 2022.
