SuperCare Health Inc. faces a proposed class action in California federal court over a data breach that allegedly compromised the confidential data of 300,000 current and former patients of the respiratory-care provider.
Vickey Angulo sued SuperCare in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Tuesday, alleging that the company violated HIPPA, among other federal and state laws, when it failed to safeguard patients’ sensitive medical information.
The breach compromised patients’ names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, health insurance information, and medical information, the complaint says.
