Spirit Airlines Sued Over Use of Browser Tracking Software

Spirit Airlines Inc. tracked and recorded users’ interactions with its website in violation of the Maryland Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Act, a new proposed federal class action said.

Frances Curd alleged that Spirit contracted with third-party vendors to embed snippets of code on the Spirit website, allowing it to intercept, record, and recreate users’ electronic communications with the site, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Maryland.
