Sony Corp.'s legal battle with a video game executive fired over harassment allegations is moving from the leading US business tribunal to an ordinary state court where the case could go to a jury.

A judge dismissed Christopher Barrett’s lawsuit Wednesday—over the tech giant’s objections—saying the suit wields ordinary legal theories to seek the routine remedy of money damages. That places the dispute beyond the jurisdiction of Delaware’s Chancery Court, an “equitable” forum designed to resolve fiduciary breach claims, craft bespoke legal remedies, and hear cases that defy rigid categories, the judge said.
