Shopify and TaskUs Users Sue Over Crypto Wallet Data Breach

Shopify Inc. and TaskUs Inc. face a proposed class action in Delaware federal court brought by individuals who say the companies failed to take measures to prevent a data breach that compromised their personal information and cryptocurrency portfolios.

Gregory Forsberg and his co-plaintiffs claim that the 2020 data breach affected Leger SAS cryptocurrency hardware wallets, which had contracted with third-party vendors Shopify and TaskUs to process its customers’ personal information. The breach compromised the names, email addresses, postal addresses, and phone numbers of more than 272,000 individuals, the plaintiffs say.
